Chez (French word meaning “At”) Benz comes from the needle point frame inside the cabin.
The BENZ family Coat of Arms is from a church in Tuggen, Switzerland, in the municipality of Galgenen, in the canton of Schwyz. The Fish represents a true, generous mind and one who is virtuous of himself, not because of heritage; and the lion is a symbol of strength and valor. The color of Gold is generosity; and Red is martyr, warrior, military, and strength.
The parents of Eric Benz, Claude and Jeanine, immigrated from France in 1958 to settle in New Jersey, thousands of miles from their families. Just like Claude and Jeanine, Eric and Lora took a risk, changing their lives distant from family, selling everything in North Carolina, and settling here in Salcha, Alaska in April 2019.
As Host to our BnB we continue to meet wonderful people. Sharing stories from other Alaskans and visitors to Alaska is very rewarding.
